Cline Cellars Winery is a family-owned and operated winery located in Sonoma County, California.
We had such a great time with Britta Gentle of Cline Cellars last year that we couldn’t resist bringing her back for another special winemaker’s dinner! This time we will be featuring a five-course dinner with tastings of two wines per course. For each course, one wine will be from Europe, or the Old World to wine lovers, while the other will be a selection of the same varietal and vintage from California, in the New World. Britta will lead a casual discussion of how winemaking practices and regional climates create subtle differences between the wines.
Cline, a family-owned winery in Sonoma County, Calif., is near and dear to our hearts for many reasons. Fred Cline’s grandfather was one of seven Italian immigrant brothers who were pioneers in aviation and would have been right at home with our grass airstrip. The Clines also are at the forefront of natural process agriculture, balancing the health of soil and plants through innovative techniques we also implement in the Lodge garden. Cline, which produces everything from distinctive Rhone-style wines to a legendary Zinfandel, even is solar-powered like the Lodge (though with 2,000 solar panels, they dwarf our tiny installation)!
To attend the event, all you have to do is stay at the Lodge the night of the dinner. The price is $100 per person, including tastings. Early reservations strongly recommended.
